Operation: Barbarossa Stalingrad In an all-out attempt to capture the city that bore Stalin's name and gain access to the Caucausus oil region beyond the Volga, Hitler ordered the German 6th Army into the deathtrap that was - Stalingrad. After continuous street fighting (where no mercy was shown by either side), the end result was the annhilation of more than 300,000 German troops. The scars of the battle that became the turning point in World War II are still evident in modern-day Volgograd. We will walk where ghosts walked on an unforgetable journey to the City on the Volga. |
