Operation: Barbarossa
Kursk

Kursk is the capital of Kurskaja Oblast in Western Russia, located where the Seim and the Tuskar connect. Kursk was founded in the tenth century as a border fortification of the Kiev Empire. During WWII, the battle near Kursk was the biggest tank battle in the history of mankind. The Nazi armies could not recover after this defeat. The museum tells about the battle which took place in July and August of 1943. The battle marked the real turning point on the Eastern Front; the Russians went on the offensive and the Germans were forced to defensive maneuvers until the end of the war.
